BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Witnesses say a "bright skinned" male walked up to a woman standing in her driveway and said "Give me your money. I've got a gun and I'm gonna kill you," according to an affidavit of probable cause from the Baton Rouge Police Department.
This happened on Jan. 25 around 8:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of Woodcliff in Baton Rouge. When he was not able to get any money or property from the woman, he ran back to a vehicle, which drove off towards Goodwood Blvd.
Witnesses told police they saw the same vehicle moments before, near the victim's house, with all of its lights off and they found it suspicious. When the suspect saw the witnesses, he drove off through Goodwood neighborhood.
Officers saw the vehicle shortly after in front of a house on Holt, and conducted a stop. The driver of the vehicle matched the victim's description.
Police found a semi-automatic handgun under the passenger seat of the vehicle. There were two other males in the vehicle, one was 16-years-old.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Devante Cantrell Roberson, was arrested and charged with attempted robbery with a firearm and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. No bond has been set as of this report.
