LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) - A man who fell out of his fishing boat into cold water was rescued by Lafayette rescue squads, according to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office.
On Friday, January 22, the LPSO was contacted at about 4:40 p.m. with information about a victim who called 911. The caller was able to give authorities his location, described as "behind the Lafayette Airport at a location with a lot of trees" surrounding the victim.
Officials say the victim was cold and could not get back into the boat.
LPSO Water Patrol Units were notified and dispatched rescue teams to find the victim. The man was spotted at about 5:20 p.m. at Charlo Lake, clinging to the side of his boat.
The man was pulled from the water, transported to shore, and taken to an area hospital.
