BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Governor John Bel Edwards took time out Wednesday to meet with the queens of the Washington Mardi Gras at the Governor's Mansion.
The queens will represent the state at an annual Mardi Gras ball in the nation's capital. Edwards had a little fun with the crowd, saying Wednesday's meet and greet is the most fun thing he has done so far as governor.
Edwards leaves Wednesday night for Washington, DC. He said the trip will be a good time, but mixed in with a lot of work.
"It's going to be a busy time. We're going to take advantage of the opportunity to meet with the folks and the administration in Washington to request assistance for things we're doing here in Louisiana," Edwards said. "I'm also going to be addressing some business groups and some good government groups up there starting tomorrow morning with a committee of 100 where I will give a speech."
The governor will spend a couple of days in Washington before returning home to Louisiana.
