GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -

Ex-mayor of Sorrento, Wilson Longanecker Jr., has pleaded guilty to possessing child porn in exchange for 40 years in prison.

He initially pleaded not guilty to 40 counts of child porn and seven counts of animal cruelty after authorities said they found illegal videos of girls.

Prosecutors with the 23rd Judicial District Attorney's Office described the videos authorities seized from the former mayor of Sorrento's home as "vile and horrendous."

He was arrested at his home on Oct. 23, 2014 after state attorney general investigators said they found enough evidence to arrest him on 40 counts of child pornography and one count of obstruction for allegedly trying to hide his computer hard drive.

An investigator with the Attorney General's Cyber Crimes Unit testified in November 2014 that she found pornographic videos of children under the age of 13 downloaded to Longanecker's hard drive. Asst. District Attorney Robin O'Bannon gave a detailed description of the evidence in court, stating the majority of the videos involved females, with some as young as three years old.

Officials with the Louisiana Attorney General's Office said they found photographs and videos showing animal cruelty on the computer hard drive they seized from Longanecker's house on Oct. 23.
