BATON ROUGE -- Craig Victor II put back a missed three pointer with 4.2 seconds remaining to give the LSU men's basketball team a 76-74 victory over Arkansas on Saturday night in front of 13,610 at the Maravich Center.
LSU (11-6, 4-1 SEC) overcame a five-point deficit in the final seven minutes behind the play of Victor andBen Simmons. Victor finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Simmons also had a double double with 16 points and 18 rebounds. Josh Gray had 15 points, while Antonio Blakeney added 10 for the Tigers.
Arkansas (9-8, 3-2 SEC) was led by Anthlon Bell, who had a game-high 19 points. The Hogs shot 45 percent (30 of 66) for the game, while LSU was 27-of-58 shooting for 47 percent.
After a back-and-forth first 20 minutes, the Tigers trailed 40-36 at halftime after missing half of its 18 free throws.
LSU returns to the road on Tuesday at 8 p.m. CT against No. 15-ranked Texas A&M. The game will be televised by ESPN and broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network beginning at 7:30 p.m.
