LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - When officials opened the Bonnet Carre Spillway this past weekend, trains had to be diverted around a portion of the rail system normally used in the area of the Spillway. This means more railroad traffic can be expected to move through Livingston Parish.
On Wednesday, many Walker residents were caught in traffic due to two Canadian Northern Trains blocking the tracks.
The diversion of train traffic will mean an increase in train traffic coming through Livingston Parish, a condition which will last so long as the Spillway remains open.
The higher volume of rail traffic will probably mean additional train stoppages and attendant delays in the parish.
Motorists are urged to prepare for the possibility of traffic delays.
