President Barack Obama arrived Wednesday night for a historic visit in Baton Rouge.
Air Force One touched down at the Baton Rouge Airport around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.
After landing, the president was welcomed to Baton Rouge by new Governor John Bel Edwards along with Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden. Edwards and Holden rode in the limo with Obama to the hotel. Louisiana Congressman Cedric Richmond also flew in to Baton Rouge with the president.
The Secret Service did a sweep of the area earlier in the evening to make sure all is secure for the president's arrival.
Many of people want to try and get a glimpse of the president in his first visit to Baton Rouge while in office. However, opportunities are slightly limited for those not attending the speech Thursday at McKinley High.
For security reasons, the president's route leaving the airport and arriving Thursday have not been made public.
President Obama came in from Omaha, Nebraska. It was the first stop on his State of the Union tour.
WAFB will have full coverage Thursday morning of the president's address.
