BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Flooding and winter storms have Red Cross volunteers in south Louisiana replenishing their supplies.
They reportedly unloaded 90 pallets of disaster relief supplies from four 18-wheelers Tuesday morning. Mops, brooms, personal care and comfort items for children were delivered.
This is all in preparation in case there's a need around Louisiana. In the past few weeks, help was sent to Mississippi, Texas, Missouri and Illinois.
"We sent 11 volunteers to support neighbors in other states when these disasters happen," said Nancy Malone with Baton Rouge Red Cross. "But this time of year is typically home fires - what we're responding to here every day - at the same time, these type of efforts are going on."
That, of course, means the Red Cross is looking for more help. Training is available Wednesday for anyone who wants to serve.
