BALDWIN, LA (WAFB) - A woman who worked at town hall in Baldwin, Louisiana was arrested on theft charges.
Natashia Lancelin, 40, is accused of not recording $63,504 in cash payments and creating fake records to hide what was collected.
A state audit uncovered the money was never deposited into the town's bank account. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana Legislative Auditor started their investigation after town officials submitted a complaint on June 17, 2015 about a possible theft by an employee.
Lancelin was booked into the St. Mary Parish jail on charges of theft, second degree injuring of public records, filing false public records and malfeasance in office. Her bond is set at $65,000.
