Eight laid off as Clerk of Court's office does not meet financial projections

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Eight people were laid off from their jobs at the Clerk of Court's office after officials say finances did not meet expectations.

"Over the past two years, the Clerk of Court has seen an ongoing decrease in revenue in various areas which has not reversed substantially as the end of 2015," says a Clerk of Court spokesman in an official statement.

The Clerk of Court's office says that the cuts needed to be made in order to avoid a budget deficit.

Representatives say they will use advancements in technology along with additional electronic services in order to provide a similar level of service in spite of the cuts.
