BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU sophomore forward Craig Victor has unquestionably provided a big spark for a now surging Tigers basketball squad.
After sitting out the first eight games of this season because of his transfer from the Arizona Wildcats, Victor has delivered toughness in the paint and some much needed grit for LSU. In his six games with the Tigers, the New Orleans native averaged 13.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest.
LSU is 5-1 in games Victor has played in, after a disappointing 4-4 start. In Tuesday's very impressive 85-67 win over No. 9 Kentucky, Victor finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds. He also frustrated the Wildcats big men Alex Poythress and Marcus Lee, who both fouled out with a combined four points.
In Wednesday's meeting with the media, Victor shared for very thought provoking comments about himself and the city he was raised in. The 6'9, 235 pounder also made it clear that any opponent that tries to go after LSU freshman star Ben Simmons, will fail and fail miserably. And while he may be viewed as a bit of an "enforcer," Victor said senior guard Keith Hornsby is no softie himself.
