Police said the man suspected of stabbing an LSU football player at a bar has been taken into custody.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Jamal Vaughn, 20, of Gonzales, was arrested Thursday morning in Prairieville by the US Marshal’s Task Force and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Vaughn is charged with aggravated second-degree battery.

Investigators said Dillon Gordon, 22, was stabbed during a fight inside Reggie’s Bar in Tigerland around 12:45 a.m. He was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon after being treated for multiple lacerations and cuts.

According to the arrest warrant, Gordon said he got into an argument as he walked out of the restroom and got into an argument with a man, which then led to a fight. The report stated Gordon was cut with a sharp object on the chest, stomach and leg during the fight.

The detective stated the suspect's wallet was found at the scene. He added Gordon and a witness said the person's whose wallet was found was the attacker.

Gordon is a senior starting tight end from Edgard, which is near New Orleans. He missed most of the 2015 season with an Achilles injury after starting the first two games of the season. He returned to action to start the Florida game on October 17, but re-injured the Achilles and was done for the season.

LSU has asked the NCAA to grant Gordon a medical redshirt so he can play the 2016 season. Gordon, who went to John Curtis High School, started 25 games in the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
