BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Governor-elect John Bel Edwards' pick for transportation secretary talked about Baton Rouge traffic at the Press Club Monday.

Dr. Shawn Wilson, the newly Appointed DOTD Chief, said he will seek federal money for traffic congestion right away for the I-10 surrounding the Mississippi River Bridge.

"At the end of the day, when I look at all of the options for Baton Rouge, if it's the West Side Expressway, if it's the Bump, the Loop, if it's a new bridge. All of those projects have value, and all of those projects are important," said Wilson. "All of those projects can't be done in the same time frame that you can widen those lanes from the bridge to the split."

He said DOTD has already been working on congestion on I-12 to the state line, in fact, it is still underway with widening it.
