Gonzales Police Department trying to identify body found Saturday

GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - The Gonzales Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a body found Saturday morning.

According to a post on the Gonzales Police Department Facebook page, police received a call at 8 a.m. about a body found on the south side of W. Edenborne Parkway. They believe that the body had been dumped there.

The case is currently being investigated as a homicide.

"There was no identification on the body. It definitely looks like it was dumped at the site," said Charlotte Guedry, Public Information Officer for Gonzales PD.

According to police, the deceased is described as a white male who appears to be in his mid to late 50s with salt and pepper hair, a goatee beard and tattoos on both his left and right biceps.

Police are limiting any further description of the body.

"We don't want to frighten somebody who may not realize that somebody's missing," said Guedry. "So we're just hoping that somebody who knows of somebody's who's missing, or saw something suspicious comes forward."

Anyone who has any information about the identity of the deceased is asked to call Detective Sergeant Steven Nethken at 225-647-9537, Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP or use the anonymous tip line at www.gonzalespd.org.
