BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Friends and family of Dean Cheney Joseph paid their respects to the well-known attorney and community leader Sunday.
Joseph passed away Friday at the age of 73 after a battle with cancer.
His visitation was held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home on Government Street Sunday night.
Joseph was known to be the heart and soul of the LSU Law Center and was recently named the Co-Dean of the Law School.
His influence on generations of Baton Rouge Lawyers and on the Louisiana legal system is something his colleagues say cannot be measures.
"He's raised 50 years of lawyers throughout Louisiana," said East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore. "He's just really left a living legacy not only in these children who are great fellas, but just the 50 years of the legal families that he's left behind and a lot of lives that he's touched."
Governor Bobby Jindal added his condolences, issuing a proclamation Sunday to honor Joseph.
"Dean Joseph dedicated his life to serving his state and country, and he had a profound impact on countless Louisiana legal students."
Services will be held Monday morning.
