BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A portion of East Boulevard in Baton Rouge will be renamed to honor civil rights activist and local pastor T.J. Jemison.
The new signs will be installed on Wednesday.
Jemison served as pastor at Mt. Zion First Baptist Church from 1949 to 2003.
During that time, he was a major figure in civil rights helping to organize the Baton Rouge Bus Boycott.
The new T.J. Jemison Boulevard is a six-block portion of East Boulevard and 9th Street between Government and Florida.
