DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) -

A Denham Springs man battling stage 4 colorectal cancer received the Christmas gift of a lifetime Sunday.

61-year-old Lonnie Brumfield took a ride in his dream car, a Dodge Viper, in front of the Walmart on Range Ave.

Brumfield was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer in September.

He had no idea his family was planning to surprise him Sunday.

Through Facebook, they found a man in New Orleans who owns a Viper.

The man was kind enough to drive it to Denham Springs and take Brumfield for a ride, making him king for a day.

"It rides good and it looks like it's going to run good," said Brumfield after riding for an initial spin.

When asked if the experience was everything he could have imagined, Brumfield answered, "Oh yea, oh yea.  I knew I always wanted one."

Brumfield's family fears he will soon be too sick to leave home and enjoy moments like his surprise ride Sunday.
