ALEXANDRIA, LA (WAFB) - A 13-year old Louisiana State Police K-9 passed away Saturday after serving more than 8 years on the force. In dog years, K-9 Terri was age 96.
She was born in 2002 and was certified in 2004 as a K-9 for LSP.
She was assigned to Troop E in Alexandria. She retired in 2012 and lived out her retirement and golden years in the home of one of her handlers.
Officials with LSP say Terri was responsible for thousands of arrests and millions of dollars in narcotics taken off of the street.
"Terri was a special part of our family and will be greatly missed," said Troopers on the LSP Facebook page.
Terri had three handlers during her service with LSP, Sgt. Jace LaCaze, TFC Joe Dessens and S/T Chris Wright. Not only was she a valued partner, but a loyal friend to each of the Troopers' family members.
Terri loved to go on runs around Kincaid Lake and to take a dip in the lake to cool off.
She was laid to rest at Troop E by her handlers.
