BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A downtown Baton Rouge hotspot has new owners and a new future.

The same group that owns Beausoleil Restaurant and Bar just recently bought Christina's Restaurant.

Owner and founder Christina Bannister passed away last year after a brief illness. The restaurant opened in October 1994.

"We have always loved Christina’s. It has been one of our favorite breakfast spots in Baton Rouge for years," said Jeff Conaway, managing partner of Beausoleil Restaurant and Bar. "We are pleased and proud that the Bannister Family is entrusting the Beausoleil Team with the future of Christina’s and look forward to honoring that legacy and serving the people of Baton Rouge for years to come."

The new people in charge said they will still serve breakfast, hot plates and po-boys.

However, they do have possible plans to spruce up the inside of the restaurant and add Sunday brunch.

Christina's is located just off Government Street near the courthouse.
