OUR TURN: Congratulations to high school football champions

OUR TURN: High school champions

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The football seasons for the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints may not be going as well as we would have liked, but how about our high school teams?

For the first time in history, one parish produced four state champions in the LHSAA Prep Classic. This historic feat was capped off this past weekend as Zachary High won its first ever state football championship, winning the 5A division. Congratulations to the Broncos.

Preceding them in victory was Catholic High which also won its first ever state football title in Class 5A/Division I.

The other East Baton Rouge teams earning football championships were Southern Lab in Division IV and Parkview Baptist in Division II. And that's not all. Also, in the WAFB viewing area, we can add in the nearby champions of Kentwood in Class 1A, Lutcher in Class 3A and even MAIS 3A champion Silliman Institute.

Last but not least, for our viewers in Mississippi, we want to recognize Wilkinson County Christian. Congratulations to all these teams, their families and fans.

That's "Our Turn." Now, it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to yourturn@wafb.com.
