BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The post office said they are working especially hard during this holiday season.
According to the United States Postal Service, Monday was likely the busiest mailing and shipping day of the year.
In fact, they are expecting more than 612 million cards, letters and packages to pass through post offices across the country Monday.
Postal officials say customers can avoid stress at the post office by purchasing shipping labels online at USPS.com and then scheduling a free pick up from their house.
For those who tend to wait until the last minute to ship, there are some holiday shipping deadlines to keep in mind.
Anyone who wants a package or card to make it by Christmas without spending extra money needs to ship it by December 15. First Class Mail needs to be shipped out by Saturday, December 19. Priority Mail has a December 21 deadline, and the cut off for Priority Mail Express is December 23.
