Southern University reaches final settlement agreement in hazing lawsuit

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A final settlement has been reached in the hazing lawsuit against Southern University.

Marcus Heath and Cameron Taylor filed a lawsuit against Southern University and the school's former French horn section leader, Jeremy Dixon, after an off-campus incident in 2008.

In the final settlement, Heath settled for $159,288 and Taylor settled for $172,009.

They accused band members of hitting each other with boards as part of a hazing ritual for the band's unofficial French horn fraternity.
