Sheriff's office identifies man killed in Wednesday night shooting

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office are investigating a shooting that took the life of 21-year-old Osval Mignonio Andrades.

The shooting happened in the 9200 block of Tracy Avenue.

When deputies arrived, they found Andrades had been shot. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

One of the suspects, a 16-year-old male, was arrested and booked for principal to first degree murder and principal to armed robbery. 

Other arrests are pending.

This is the 88th shooting victim for East Baton Rouge Parish in 2015. There were a total of 73 homicides for the entirety of 2014.

The latest shooting happened in the 70814 zip code. It is the third homicide investigation this year for that area. There were three homicides in that zip code last year.

The case is being investigated by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. That agency has investigated 19 homicides so far this year. EBRSO investigated a total of 11 homicides for the entirety of 2014.

Including the latest investigation, there are a total of 38 open homicide investigations in EBR Parish.
