BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Millions of dollars from Louisiana's "rainy day" fund will go towards re-balancing this year's budget.
State lawmakers voted on the appropriation with an overwhelming majority, agreeing to take $28.2 million from the budget stabilization fund.
Lawmakers hope those funds will help close the state's budget gap. The vote was the last part of Governor Jindal's plan to fix the state's money problems.
Without the approval from legislators, Jindal's administration warned funds for higher education could have been cut.
