The Christmas season was officially launched Friday night in Baton Rouge.
A 35-foot Christmas tree was lit as part of the downtown Festival of Lights as well as performances from musicians, movies and other activities.
North Boulevard was transformed into a wonderland with a white lights, festival tents and a snow slide area for children to enjoy a quick ride.
Mayor Kip Holden helped WAFB's Donna Britt flip the switch to light up the Christmas tree. Santa Claus even made an appearance, arriving on a fire truck with Mrs. Holden.
The downtown Baton Rouge tradition started early in the evening and went until 9 p.m.
