Suspect arrested in shooting on Kleinpeter Rd.

The East Baton Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a suspect in a November shooting on Kleinpeter Road that left one man injured.

Deputies were called to the scene of a shooting in the 6600 block of Kleinpeter Rd. just after midnight on Saturday, November 28.

When deputies arrived, they found a man shot in the back. He was transported to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He was treated and later released.

Detectives contacted the victim after he was released from the hospital for his account of the shooting.

According to detectives, the victim says he was walking home from a gas station when noticed the suspect, 17-year-old Benjamin Allen and another man walking on the same street.

The victim says when he passed the suspects, he recognized them as two guys he knew through mutual friends.

According to the victim, after passing the suspects, he heard rapid footsteps behind him. When he turned around, he saw Allen directly behind him with a gun pointed at his head.

The victim says when he attempted to run, that is when Allen shot him in the back.

Allen was arrested and taken to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he has been booked with attempted second degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and criminal damage to property.
