NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) -

The Southern Lab Kittens roared to a 28-0 halftime lead and went on to beat St Mary's 36-2 to win the Division IV state championship game.

The Kittens got on the board with a 45-yard punt return by Curtland Williams, before Darbbeon Profit scored on a 9-yard rush for a 12-0 first quarter advantage. Xavier Bell would then score on a 70-yard touchdown strike from Bladrick Veal, before Williams scored again on a 45-yard grab from Veal.

After reaching last year's state championship game and losing big, the Kittens took home the title in Marcus Randall's first year as Southern Lab's head coach.

Williams was named the game's MVP, with 79 yards receiving and a touchdown, along with his punt return for a score. He also made a big play on defense, intercepting a pass and returning it 26 yards. Williams actually brought the pick back for a thrilling score, but a penalty brought it back.

Southern Lab finished their season 10-3 overall.
