BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a man accused of raping a woman in Tigerland in October.
According to deputies, they received a call at 7:30 a.m. on October 11 from Baton Rouge General Hospital about a sexual assault victim being treated in the emergency room.
When the SVU detective arrived at the hospital, the victim told the detective that the incident happened while she was out celebrating her birthday with a group of friends in Tigerland. The victim says while she was out, she got separated from her sisters and friends.
She later met a black male who told her that he would help her find her friends.
The victim told the detective that she remembers being in the backseat of the suspect's vehicle near the Tiger Brothers Food Mart. The suspect then climbed into the backseat of the vehicle and raped her. After, the suspect let the victim out of the vehicle.
The victim then met up with a group of strangers who walked her to their residence where she was able to get in contact with her friends.
According to the detective, witnesses stated that they last saw the victim in Reggies dancing with a black male.
Surveillance video obtained from Reggies, showed the victim leaving with the suspect just before 2 a.m.
The victim's sister later found a picture of the victim with the suspect inside of Reggies. She also managed to identify the suspect through friends' social media accounts.
The detective was later able to identify the suspect from the surveillance video and photos as 19-year-old Patrick Franklin of Covington.
According to deputies, he was later positively identified by the victim, witnesses and the good samaritans who assisted the victim.
Franklin has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he has been charged with 2nd degree forceable rape.
Franklin's bond has been set at $75,000.
