BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man has been arrested and charged with manslaughter for a deadly stabbing that happened on November 13 in the 3000 block of Lone Oak Drive after 10 p.m.
Investigators with the Baton Rouge Police Department say 31-year-old Jody McCray and 49-year-old Davis Thomas got into an argument. Police say McCray armed himself with a hammer and Davis armed himself with a knife.
McCray tried to hid Davis with the hammer, but Davis deflected the blow and began to stab McCray. McCray then turned to run out of the apartment, but police say Davis kept stabbing him, even when McCray asked for help.
Police say witnesses had to intervene to stop Davis from continuing to stab McCray. Investigators say most of the stab wounds happened after the hammer fell to the ground.
Detectives say they found a video of the incident that was consistent with the victim's injuries and the witness accounts.
A warrant for Davis' arrest was issued on November 13. He was arrested on December 4, 2015 and charged with manslaughter. He is being held in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a $50,000 bond.
