GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office is not about to let kids go empty handed this holiday season.
There were lines of volunteers at the Gonzales Wal-mart Thursday night to help collect gifts for the Christmas Crusade program. They tracked down items on wish lists for different children and then checked out at the register.
All gifts were paid for with money raised by the APSO.
Sheriff Jeff Wiley said proudly talked about a Walmart packed with volunteers. He said they included people from all walks of life, children, parents and even inmates.
