Hammond Police ask for help finding suspects in Thanksgiving Day armed robbery, shooting case

HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) -

Hammond Police officials are looking for suspects in a Thanksgiving Day shooting.

The shooting happened on Washington Avenue just after midnight on November 26.

Investigators say a silver colored Chevrolet Impala with a temporary tag pulled up in front of a residence in the 500 block of Washington Avenue. The front passenger allegedly exited the vehicle with a handgun that had a red laser sight attached.

Hammond Police reports say the suspect attempted to rob the victims who were standing in the driveway. As the victims emptied their pockets, the robber began shooting at them. Officials say one of the victims was shot in the shoulder and leg, while the other victim was shot in the leg.

The shooter was described as a tall, skinny, black male wearing a ski mask, and the driver was described as a black male with a light complexion who was also wearing a ski mask.

The suspects quickly fled the scene, and were last spotted driving northbound on Washington Avenue headed towards West Coleman Avenue.
