BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - There are about 900 Christmas trees planted around yawn station Christmas tree farm in independence. Farmer Joe Gersch started growing 12 years ago, but has only been selling for the past eight.
"It takes at least four or five years, that's only talking about a three and a half, four foot tree," said Farmer Joe.
Louisiana doesn't have many tree farms, as the state's weather prevents certain trees from growing.
Then, there's living through droughts or too much rain that kills trees, making sure they're topped, trimmed, fertilized and sprayed for bugs, and to make sure customers have a few choices.
