Some officers with the Baton Rouge Police Department spent their Wednesday morning delivering Thanksgiving meals to those most in need.
Tables were set up to put together a proper Thanksgiving meals with turkeys and all the fixings to feed 68 families. Officers rolled out to the cars and then hand delivered the meals to each family.
BRPD held its fifth annual Thanksgiving Adopt a Family Giveaway. This year they raised $4,000 and BRPD Chief Carl Dabadie was one of the volunteers making deliveries Wednesday.
"Well this is an opportunity for the Baton Rouge Police Department to work with our community," said Dabidie. "We have a lot of families in our community that struggle and need assistance from time to time and this gives us the opportunity to help our community."
Along with officers, two different fraternities helped make deliveries. Local churches and schools help the department to identify those in need.
