BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The various charities around Baton Rouge say they are set for volunteers on Thanksgiving Day, but it is the days following when they really need help.
Michael Acaldo with St. Vincent de Paul said every year they are blessed with an abundance of people who want to help, but he hopes people will keep them in mind all year long.
"Thanksgiving is a very large day of volunteers for us, but then it kind of dies down after Thanksgiving and then kind of picks up over Christmas," he said. "Why not just make your day a great volunteer time all throughout the holiday season."
St. Vincent de Paul will serve Thanksgiving dinner at their dining hall.
"Thanksgiving is all about thanking God for all the good things in our lives and people can give back at Thanksgiving," Acaldo said. "People can really make a difference but it's all year long especially during the holiday season."
