BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Fire investigators are trying to figure out the cause of a blaze that destroyed a vacant house late Tuesday night.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on Plank Road at Iroquois Street around 10:30 p.m.
Curt Monte with BRFD said the two-story house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene. He added they tried to go inside, but the flames were causing the floors to collapse.
According to Monte, the initial call to the fire department indicated someone was trapped inside, so once the fire was put out, firefighters searched the building several times, but did not find anyone.
The house is considered a total loss.
