JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - One of the two people accused of murdering and dismembering a Bourbon Street dancer in June 2012 is asking for her trial to be moved.
Lawyers for Margaret Sanchez say the hundreds of articles and stories done on the death of 22-year-old Jaren Lockhart would taint any jury selection for Sanchez's trial.
Sanchez is charged with second-degree murder as well as obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruction in connection to Lockhart's death. Her trial is currently scheduled to start December 7 in Jefferson Parish.
In June, Terry Speaks, Sanchez's accomplice, was found guilty of second-degree murder, obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruction charges.
