BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting Friday night that left one man dead.
According to detectives, deputies responded to a call of shots fired at 6:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Starboard Avenue.
When deputies arrived they found the victim, 33-year-old Charles Barney shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to witnesses, Barney and another man got into a verbal altercation just before the shooting. Both men allegedly armed themselves and Barney was shot during the altercation.
The case currently under investigation.
