YOUR TURN: EBR firing of Scotlandville principal

SCOTLANDVILLE, LA (WAFB) - This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Dirlean Tate Mason. Mason is one of many people who reacted on our Facebook page to the firing of a principal in East Baton Rouge schools.

A hearing this week affirmed the school system's termination of Dr. Calvin Nicholas because he used a stick to break up a fight on the Scotlandville High School campus. Mason and others are very unhappy about the decision. In her words:

I think it is awful that this man will not get his job back. There was no harm caused. That is what's wrong with youth today. They are not allowed to be disciplined. Maybe he should have let them fight until one killed the other. Then, I guess he would have gotten fired for not doing something to break them up. It's a sad world we live in.

That's Dirlean Mason's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to
