MARKSVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

Chris Few, the father of the 6-year-old boy killed in Marksville, is with family after leaving the hospital more than a week after an encounter with police ended in tragedy.

About 100 members of the central Louisiana town gathered Thursday night to remember young Jeremy Mardis during a candlelight vigil.

The people who attended the vigil released balloons and lit candles for Jeremy and his dad. Organizers sold the lanterns for $1 with all proceeds going to the family.

The events of the last few weeks definitely taking a toll on the small community.
