BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A United States attorney announced on Thursday that a man has pled guilty to a scheme to defraud Louisiana’s movie tax credit system.

George Kostuch, 46, was sentenced to three years of probation and was ordered to pay $161,850 back to Louisiana for his role in the crime.

Kostuch used his status with two film production companies to obtain tax credits for a game show series. U.S. attorney Walt Green says Kostuch admitted to using his control of the companies in the film industry to deliver bad checks totaling $539,000 for fake production expenses.

Those checks caused the Louisiana Department of Economic Development Office to issue a $161,850 tax credit.
