La. Guardsman wins gold at All-Army Boxing Championships

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) - A member of the Louisiana National Guard won the gold medal in his weight class during the All-Army Boxing Championships.

The Louisiana National Guard reported Spc. Trey "The Truth" Alexander, of Houma, won the 141-pound welterweight class at the championships in Arizona in September.

Officials added the win earned Alexander a spot on the All-Army Boxing Team.

Alexander has been with the Louisiana National Guard since 2011 and is a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 139th Regional Support Group, which is located at Jackson Barracks in New Orleans.

LNG said he was the only National Guardsman to compete in the tournament, which was by invitation only to about 30 soldiers.
