ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A man arrested in connection with a break-in at a carwash Sunday admitted to committing several other carwash burglaries, according to investigators.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported Hubert Bourgeois, 53, of Baton Rouge, was taken into custody shortly after deputies arrived at Galvez Carwash to investigate a burglary.
Lt. Col. Bobby Webre with APSO said deputies had been looking for Bourgeois as a person of interest in several carwash break-ins in Ascension and East Baton Rouge parishes.
According to Webre, Bourgeois confessed to burglaries at AAA carwash in Prairieville, Bay Wash carwash in Gonzales and Sail Away carwash in Gonzales.
Deputies reported finding drug paraphernalia on Bourgeois at the time of his arrest.
Bourgeois is charged with eight counts of criminal trespassing, eight counts of simple criminal damage to property, eight counts of simple burglary, illegal carrying of weapons, drug paraphernalia prohibited acts, fugitive warrant from another agency and two bench warrants for driving under suspension and no seat belt.
Bond has not been set.
