Police believe driver ran red light in crash that left woman dead

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Police said a woman has died due to the injuries she suffered in a crash Sunday afternoon.

The victim was identified as Patricia Wilson, 56, of Baton Rouge.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported the wreck happened on Airline Highway at Winbourne Avenue around 4:30 p.m.

Cpl. Don Coppola with BRPD said the investigation showed Wilson, who was driving a 2013 Honda Accord, was making a right turn from Winbourne onto Airline when she was hit by a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado on Airline.

He added it is believed the driver of the truck ran a red light and hit Wilson’s car.

Investigators reported Wilson died at the hospital. The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. His name was not released.

The investigation is ongoing.
