BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The two candidates in the runoff for Governor will be in the same room at the same time.
The Baton Rouge Press Club will host Senator David Vitter and Representative John Bel Edwards. Both men are expected to speak and then take questions from the medial. The candidates speak at noon at the Belle of Baton Rouge.
Analysts say Senator Vitter is choosing to make an appearance based on recent polls indicating he's behind in the race.
"For the first time in his career, David Vitter is running uphill," says WAFB Political Analyst Jim Engster. "He has to do something to change that and the only way he's going to do it is by confronting his opponents. So in the past, he felts debates had more risks than gain. This time around, he's taking a chance."
The public is invited to the event.
