TUSCALOOSA, AL (WAFB) - As dawn breaks over Tuscaloosa on the eve of a game so epic, a rivalry so deep, the crimson and white flies high over a parking lot that is… kind of empty.
"Quiet," says one LSU fan. "There will definitely be more tomorrow, and more people coming in tonight."
9News cameras found just a handful of RVs, and some Bama fans actually wishing for some tigers.
"Tailgating used to be open to the away teams and stuff like that. Since they started renting out the spots, I don't see them as often as I used to."
So maybe to be seen a little better, LSU fans will just need to wear more purple. A quick stop at the closet, and it's onto University Boulevard, where things can get a bit hostile.
"Roll Tide!" said one Alabama fan driving by.
Some passersby don't exactly believe poking the bear, or the Tide in this case, is a good way to get a point across.
"I don't think [wearing LSU colors] is the smartest idea my friend," said one person. Why? What could go wrong? "A lot of public humiliation," he says.
Despite a bunch of good natured jabs between fans, there is a tension in the air at Bryant Denny Stadium that will be cleared on Saturday, November 7 when the LSU Tigers take on the Alabama Crimson Tide at 7:00 p.m. on WAFB.
