BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities say a man was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly doused his vehicle in gasoline and caused a disturbance at a Chick-Fil-A restaurant.
Michael Hepworth, 30, was arrested at about 10:45 a.m. after deputies were called by a witness who saw Hepworth allegedly pour gasoline on his car at a Motel 6 at 10445 Rieger Road in Baton Rouge. The witness told police Hepworth was jumping up and down on the truck, causing damage.
An EBRSO probable cause report says the suspect fled the scene on foot after officers arrived. Hepworth allegedly ignored verbal commands to stop.
Authorities say the suspect led the chase to an area Chick-Fil-A and attempted to hide in the area, causing a disturbance for customers inside the restaurant. Officers say they never lost sight of the suspect and were able to detain the suspect by using a Tazer.
Hepworth is facing aggravated arson, aggravated criminal damage to property, theft, and resisting an officer charges.
