Veterans Day event at the Old State Capitol

KIDD Hosts Veterans Day Ceremony

Veterans and community members are invited to a Veterans Day Ceremony being sponsored by the USS KIDD Veterans Museum, in partnership with Secretary of State Tom Schedler and Louisiana's Old State Capitol, on Nov. 11.

The Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at Louisiana's Old State Capitol, located at 100 North Blvd., on Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

The USS KIDD Veterans Museum will be free to the public on Veterans Day. USS KIDD ship tours will be free to veterans, 1/2 off for military families and available at the regular admission price of: $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for children ages 5-12 to the general public.

Pointe Coupee Parish Veterans Monument Groundbreaking Ceremony

On November 11, 2015, people are urged to bring their red, white and blue shovels to participate in the groundbreaking. The event begins at 9 a.m. on False River Drive in front of the Pointe Coupee General Hospital.

If you're interested in purchasing a brick for the monument, the last day to order is December 1, 2015. They still need to sell approximately 400 bricks.

LSVI Veterans Day Program

The Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired (LSVI) is proud to announce its' Veteran's Day activities. On November 11, 2015 we will have our Veteran's Day program with special guest speaker, SFC Michael J. McNaughton. Our students are truly excited to have a military hero as their speaker.

The staff and students of the Louisiana School for the Deaf and Visually Impaired (LSDVI) are raising funds for veterans through the Jeans for Troops Day through out the campus. The funds go to the GI Go Fund for the veterans

Ascension Parish Veterans Day Ceremony

The Ascension Veterans Memorial Park Committee will be hosting its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11, 2015.  The event will begin at 11:00 am in the Park's Amphitheater.  Guest Speaker will be Mr. Tommy Martinez, Ascension Parish President.  Music will be provided by the combined choir from East Ascension, St. Amant, and Dutchtown.  Military honors will be presented by the St. Amant Navy JROTC and local Veteran organizations.  There will also be an official unveiling of a new monument in the park to honor our veterans. The event is open to the public and free.  Please help us honor our local heroes. The Ascension Veterans Memorial Park is located at 612 Irma Blvd in Gonzales, next to the Ascension Parish Library.

St. John the Baptist Parish Annual Veterans Day Parade and Celebration

The activities will be held Wednesday. The parade starts at Home Depot on Airline Highway in LaPlace at 10 a.m. A ceremony will be held at Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve. There will be food, drinks and music by Leroy St. Pierre.

Veterans Day Program at Fletcher

Fletcher Technical Community College (Fletcher) will hold a Veterans Day Program on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 beginning at 11 a.m. in the Atrium of its Schriever campus located at 1407 LA 311. This year's guest speaker is Ms. Lisa Cole, Master Sergeant, U.S. Army (Ret.), who is an EO Officer with the Veterans Affairs in New Orleans. The program will include a Missing Man Ceremony to honor America's POW/MIAs. The Regional Military Museum will display one of their military vehicles at the event. Several local veterans' organizations will be represented, including the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Bayou Region; Thibodaux Veterans of Foreign War, and Veterans of the Vietnam War.

Ollie Steele Burden Manor Veterans Day Celebration

Ollie Steele Burden Manor will have a Veterans Day celebration at 3 p.m. Cadets will begin the event with the presentation of colors. A local veteran will address the group and then the veterans who live at Ollie Steele will be recognized. Ollie Steele is located at 4250 Essen Lane in Baton Rouge.

Thibodaux City Offices To Close on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in Observance of Veterans Day

In observance of Veterans Day, City of Thibodaux offices will close on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. The Warren J. Harang Jr. Municipal Auditorium will also be closed to walkers on the aforementioned day. Normal operating hours to resume on Thursday, November 12, 2015.

Winn-Dixie Honors Veterans with Wall of Honor Community Donation Campaign

Leading up to Veterans Day, Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie stores, announced the launch of the Wall of Honor community donation campaign in all stores.

Every cent generated through customer donations from Nov. 2-15 will be donated in support of the Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) Independence Program.

Customers are encouraged to visit their neighborhood Winn-Dixie stores to purchase a $1 Dedication Card and write a special message to their own military hero. UFC GYM says 'Thank You' to Veterans/Active Duty Military and Their Families with free Gym Access November 11-15
