BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Companion Animal Alliance of Baton Rouge earned a $28,800 grant award after achieving the most pet adoptions of any animal control operator in the nation participating in the Petco Foundation's adoption event and celebration.
The event was held the weekend of October 3rd and 4th and showcased pets available for adoption from local animal welfare organizations at Petco and Unleashed by Petco stores across the country. By the end of the weekend, nearly 14,000 pets found homes during the adoption event that was in celebration of Petco's 50th Anniversary.
Companion Animal Alliance of Baton Rouge placed an astounding 88 pets in just two days.
Furthering its commitment to adoption programs in communities throughout the country, the Petco Foundation awarded grants between $50 and $100 per adoption for participating organizations that achieved five or more adoptions that weekend. As the best animal control operator in the nation, Companion Animal Alliance will receive an additional Adoption Champion grant award of $20,000, plus adoption bonuses, for a total of $28,800.
Executive Director of Companion Animal Alliance, Beth Brewster, says "We are deeply honored to receive the Champion Grant Award and thank the Petco Foundation for this amazing opportunity to have 88 pets find homes. This could not have happened without a great team of staff, volunteers, supporters and our local partner, Petco at Acadian Village."
This event found homes for more pets than any other previous weekend in the Petco Foundation and Petco's long history of supporting pet adoptions through the Think Adoption First© program.
