Officials with the Thibodaux Police Department say a 44-year-old man was cited after he struck an officer several times and then purposely defecated on himself to avoid arrest.

Police say they were called to a home in the 100 block of Cedar Street on Saturday, Oct. 31 around 10:30 p.m. about a man having a seizure. Another witness told police Rodrigue was intoxicated and hit a person in the head with a telephone.

When police arrived, Rodrigue is accused of hitting one of the police officers in the stomach several times because he continued to act violently.

Officials with EMS said Rodrigue was not having a seizure, but was high on a drug, possibly synthetic marijuana.

"When Samuel Rodrigue overheard Police tell the complainant that he was going to be arrested, Samuel Rodrigue began to strain and defecated on himself," said officials  in a news release.

This was not the first time that officers had dealt with someone purposely defecated on themselves to avoid being arrested, according to the news release.

Samuel Rodrigue was taken to the Thibodaux Regional Medical Center to be treated for his elevated heart rate, and was issued a misdemeanor summons to appear in court for his charges.
