ACADIA PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police are investigating a two vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a Carencro woman.
State Police say the accident happened just before 7 p.m. Sunday on I-10 eastbound just west of Rayne.
An initial investigation revealed that 21-year-old Britaney Waldrep was driving her 2008 Nissan Maxima in the eastbound right lane on I-10 when she overtook a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo. When Waldrep attempted to get back into the right lane, the back of her vehicle clipped the front of the Chevrolet Aveo causing both vehicles to go off of the right side of the roadway.
When the vehicles left the roadway, Waldrep's vehicle overturned.
Waldrep who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident was ejected from her vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other passengers in Waldrep's vehicle only suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle, 27-year-old Miranda Olivier, also only suffered minor injuries.
Impairment is not considered a factor in the crash but a routine toxicology test was taken and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
